our programs

Beginning with the 2026–2027 league year, North Carolina Youth Soccer will transition to a seasonal, school-year–based age group system designed to provide consistency and clarity for players and families. Age groups will now be determined based on the league year, which runs from August 1 through July 31, allowing players to remain in the same age group for both the fall and spring seasons. This structure supports stronger team continuity, more effective player development, and a more cohesive experience throughout the year. For example, a player born on June 8, 2017, will be placed in the U10 age group, while a player born on September 10, 2018, will participate in the U8 age group. Families are encouraged to reference the Age Group chart on our website for specific date ranges and placement details, ensuring they feel confident and informed as they plan their player’s soccer journey with SSL.

SSL Micros Program

The Micros program at Seashore Soccer League provides our youngest players with an introduction to soccer. As these new players are learning their first steps, we want to introduce them to a ball. These sessions are built around a "parent and me" environment where the parent/guardian will help and interact with the player. We want to instill a dribble-first approach rather than a need to kick a ball first.

Juniors Program

The Juniors Program at Seashore Soccer League is designed to introduce young players, ages 3–5, to the game of soccer in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate environment. Through a structured, skill-based curriculum, players are introduced to fundamental techniques such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork, with each session focused on learning a new skill and applying it through interactive games and small-sided scrimmages. Led by experienced coaches who bring a passion for teaching and the game itself, the program aims to build confidence while fostering a genuine love for soccer. Conducted once a week over a four-week period, all sessions utilize a pool training format—meaning players train together rather than being assigned to teams—allowing for individualized attention, consistent instruction, and a focus on personal development over competition. This approach creates a positive first experience where young players can learn, grow, and enjoy the game at their own pace.

recreational soccer (u6-U10)

At Seashore Soccer League (SSL), recreational soccer is where fun, development, and community come together. Designed for players of all skill levels, our program focuses on creating an inclusive, positive environment where children can learn the game, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love for soccer. Through balanced teams, supportive coaching, and an emphasis on growth over results, players gain valuable skills on and off the field—forming friendships, learning teamwork, and discovering their unique path in the game.

Travel Recreational (12u-18u)

Eastern Carolina Soccer Association (ECSA), founded in 1995, serves as the scheduling league for recreational travel soccer across the region, overseeing competition for U9–U19 age groups through its own Board of Directors, rules, and scheduling structure. As a participating club, Seashore Soccer League (SSL) sponsors U12–U19 teams to compete within ECSA but does not directly manage league operations, scheduling, or policies. While rooted in the principles of recreational soccer—focused on enjoyment, development, and a love for the game—players in ECSA can expect a higher level of competition than in-house programs, along with travel to away matches. Seasons typically include around eight games, split evenly between home and away, with most home matches played at Rotary Park on weekends, followed by a single-elimination tournament hosted by participating clubs. Families and coaches are encouraged to review ECSA rules and policies to fully understand expectations. At its core, SSL remains committed to providing every player with the opportunity to have fun, develop skills, and grow both on and off the field while fostering a lifelong passion for soccer.

Development Academy

The SSL Academy Development Program is an eight-month, skill-focused training pathway designed to enhance each player’s ability and foster a deeper love for the game. Through professionally trained coaches, players receive high-quality, age-appropriate instruction during these key developmental years, building a strong foundation in both technical and tactical skills. Our program is structured to prepare players for progression into Classic-level competition and beyond, while maintaining a positive, engaging environment that supports confidence, growth, and long-term success in soccer.

Classic Soccer

The SSL Classic Program is designed for players who aspire to achieve excellence and reach their highest potential within the game. With a player-centered approach, our primary focus is on comprehensive development—technical, tactical, physical, and psychological—creating a clear pathway for long-term success. Building on a strong tradition of success over the past 40 years, we measure achievement not only by results, but by the growth and improvement each player demonstrates during their time with the club. All players are held to the highest standards of character and accountability through the SSL Player Code of Conduct and are treated with fairness and respect. Our coaching staff serves as positive, impactful mentors, fostering an environment built on encouragement, honesty, and mutual respect—where players are empowered to think independently, develop strong habits, and take ownership of their own development both on and off the field.

TOPSoccer

The TOPSoccer Program at Seashore Soccer League, part of the US Youth Soccer Outreach Program for Soccer, provides a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for children and young adults ages 5 to 21 with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities. Designed with a focus on player development rather than competition, TOPSoccer offers participants the opportunity to experience the game of soccer in a way that meets their individual needs while fostering confidence, social interaction, and a true sense of belonging. Through structured, engaging activities, athletes build self-esteem, improve fitness, and develop valuable life skills—while, most importantly, having fun. At SSL, we are proud to offer this vital program as part of our commitment to ensuring every individual has the opportunity to participate, grow, and feel like a valued member of our soccer community.
