What makes a Great Coach??


We are happy to announce the following Coaching Education Opportunities right in Carteret County.  

Course Name: Youth I & II License (This license is Mandatory for all SSL Rec Coaches from U6 - U12.  SSL will pay for this course - so please choose "Pay by Check")

Previously it was discussed that there was an online component to these courses.  I have just been informed that that is not true - it is only for the Youth I module.  So the Youth II is an all day course from 9 - 3.  

For those of you who signed up for both - you will need to do the online component for the Youth I as outlined below and then attend the all day course on saturday for Youth II and you will get certification for BOTH courses.
 
Youth I - Course Break Down

There are two easy steps that need to be completed, in order to receive the Youth I Module certificate:

 

Step One:

Log onto the Youth I online course by registering at the following link and completing the online portion:

Step Two:

 

Register for the Youth I field component at the following link:

Once both steps have been completed you will receive the Youth I Module Certificate from the Technical Director of Coaching Education & Player Development in the mail.

 

The course will now be broken down in the following manner:

 

Youth I Module Certificate - Course Description

 

Introduction

  • This course is designed for the parent/coach of Under 6 and Under 8 aged players

 

Objectives

  • To prepare coaches to unlock the "game within the child"
  • Provide a better understanding of the specific age characteristics and how to place players in age appropriate activities
  • Gain understanding of developmental characteristics of children at this age
